WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said on Wednesday it is seeking more details about a series of incidents that raise concerns about the operation of Alphabet’s (NASDAQ:) Waymo self-driving cars.
In May, the US auto safety regulator launched an investigation after 22 reports that its robotaxis exhibited driving behavior that potentially violated road safety laws or exhibited other “unexpected behavior,” including 17 collisions.
The agency said Wednesday that Waymo must answer a series of detailed questions by Aug. 6, including details about all trips on public roads by the company’s self-driving vehicles.
