COPENHAGEN (Reuters) – U.S. electric car maker Tesla (NASDAQ:) has been reported to Swedish police on charges of carrying out electrical work without the required registration, the Swedish Electricians’ Union said on Wednesday.
There are already tensions between Tesla and unions in Sweden, where the company has faced a long strike and its mechanics have been on strike since October 27.
Tesla was not available for comment when contacted by Reuters.
“There is evidence that Tesla is carrying out electrical work at one of its charging stations. This is despite the fact that Tesla is not registered with the National Electrical Safety Council,” the union said in a press release.
The union said this means Tesla is not allowed to carry out electrical work under Swedish law.
“Since Tesla violates Swedish law, we must respond. We will never tolerate illegal electrical installations,” union negotiations chief Mikael Pettersson said in a statement.
