WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Chrysler parent Stellantis (NYSE:) is recalling 1.16 million vehicles in North America due to a software problem that prevents rearview camera images from displaying, increasing the risk of crashes, the automaker said in a statement. Tuesday.
The over-the-air software update recall includes 2021-2022 Dodge Durango, 2021-2023 Chrysler Pacifica, 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee L, Ram 1500, 2500, 3500, 2022-2023 Jeep Compass, Grand Cherokee, Wagoneer, The Grand Wagoneer and Ram Promaster serve 1.033 million vehicles in the United States and 126,000 in Canada.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, vehicle radio software may interfere with the display of rear view images.
The media screens of recalled vehicles will prompt you to accept the update. Stellantis said the software has already been updated on more than 735,000 vehicles.
The company began looking into the issue in October 2023, and the automaker reviewed warranty data, field records and
customer assistance records.
The automaker said it is not aware of any injuries or crashes related to the recall issue.
