Investing.com – Japan equities were lower at the close on Wednesday as sector and sector losses dragged shares lower.
At the end of trading in Tokyo, quotes fell by 0.98%.
The best performers of the session were Itochu Company (TYO:) rose 6.42% or 408.00 points to trade at 6768.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Tokyo Gas Company Co., Ltd. Sumitomo Dainippon Pharma Co Ltd (TYO:) shares rose 4.41%, or 148.00 points, to finish at 3,505.00. Sumitomo Dainippon Pharma Co Ltd (TYO:) shares rose 4.00%, or 16.00 points, to finish at 416.00.
The worst performance of the session was Shimizu Company (TYO:), which fell 9.16% or 88.20 points to trade at 874.30 at the close. Nintendo Co Ltd (TYO:) shares were down 4.28% or 349.00 points to close at 7,798.00. Ebara company (TYO:) fell 3.67%, or 505.00 points, to 13,255.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered rising stocks on the Tokyo Stock Exchange from 1928 to 1693, with 257 stocks ending unchanged.
Shares of Itochu Corp. (TYO:) rose to an all-time high; rose by 6.42% or from 408.00 to 6768.00.
The index, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, rose 5.82% to 19.65.
Oil for May delivery fell 0.02%, or 0.02, to $85.13 a barrel. In commodities, Brent crude for June delivery rose 0.07%, or 0.06, to $88.98 a barrel, while June gold futures rose 0.86%, or 19.65. and traded at $2,301.45 per troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.06% at 151.63 and EUR/JPY was up 0.06% at 163.31.
US Dollar Index futures fell 0.03% to 104.54.
