WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The Federal Communications Commission on Friday asked the 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals to transfer a series of industry legal challenges related to its decision to restore historic net neutrality rules to federal court in Washington, DC.
The Sixth District in Cincinnati was selected at random after lawsuits were filed in seven district courts. The Federal Communications Commission asked that the case be remanded to the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals, saying, “It would be most efficient and in the interest of justice.”
Separately, the FCC on Friday rejected a request from industry groups representing AT&T (NYSE:), Comcast (NASDAQ:), Verizon (NYSE:) and others to delay the effective date of its order on July 22.
