WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Family members of victims killed in the crash of two Boeing (NYSE:) 737 MAX jets have asked a U.S. judge to appoint a corporate monitor to review the planemaker’s safety procedures and corporate compliance.
In a court document, family members asked U.S. District Judge Reed O’Connor to impose penalties on the monitor, saying “Boeing poses an ongoing threat to public safety.”
The families cited the Justice Department’s recent decision that Boeing violated a 2021 deferred prosecution agreement and the Jan. 5 mid-air accident involving Alaska Airlines’ new MAX 9 plane, among other reasons.
