Investing.com – Australia equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in indices and sectors led shares higher.
At the close of trading in Sydney, quotes rose 0.99%, reaching a new all-time high.
The best performers of the session were mesoblast Ltd (ASX:), which rose 14.14% or 0.07 points to trade at 0.57 at the close. Resolute Mining Ltd (ASX:) was up 11.54% or 0.05 points to finish at 0.44, while Omni Bridgeway Ltd (ASX:) was up 7.39% or 0 .11 points, and ended trading at 1.52.
The worst performers of the session were Zip Co Ltd (ASX:), which fell 6.67% or 0.10 points to trade at 1.40 at the close. EML Payments Ltd (ASX:) was down 3.54% or 0.05p to finish at 1.23, while Fisher & Paykel Healthcare Ltd (ASX:) was down 3.04% or 0. .74 p., to 23.59.
Advancing shares outnumbered declining ones on the Sydney Stock Exchange by 762 to 393, while 331 ended unchanged.
The index, which measures implied volatility in S&P/ASX 200 options, fell 2.62% to 9.79, a new three-month low.
Gold futures for June delivery rose 0.17%, or 3.85, to $2,216.55 a troy ounce. In commodities, crude oil for May delivery rose 0.66%, or 0.54, to $81.89 a barrel, while the June Brent contract rose 0.55%, or 0.47. and traded at $85.88 per barrel.
AUD/USD was unchanged 0.06% at 0.65 and AUD/JPY fell 0.03% to 98.78.
U.S. Dollar Index futures were unchanged 0.00% at 104.06.
