(Reuters) – Alaska Airlines said on Friday it has returned to Boeing’s (NYSE:) 737 MAX 9 plane that suffered a mid-flight door panel explosion in January.
“They took possession of it and the registration was changed,” an Alaska Airlines spokesman said, adding that an order had also been placed for a new Boeing 737-10.
Boeing has told its suppliers that a key phase of production of the 737 family of planes will be delayed by three months, sources told Reuters earlier this month.
U.S. investigators on Thursday sanctioned Boeing for disclosing details of the explosion investigation and said they would share the investigation’s findings with the Justice Department, prompting the planemaker to issue an apology.
