SYDNEY (Reuters) – Australian broadcaster Nine Entertainment Co Holdings Ltd said its chairman Peter Costello resigned on Saturday and was replaced by non-executive deputy chairman Catherine West.
“Catherine West has been appointed Chairman of NEC,” the company said in a June 9 statement.
“The board wishes to thank Mr Costello for his contribution to Nine over more than ten years, including eight years as chairman.”
Costello will not only step down as chairman, but will also “step down from the board effective immediately,” Nine said.
Costello, Australia’s former treasurer, said in a separate statement to Nine that the board needed a new chairman to “unite them around a fresh vision”.
West was appointed to Nine’s board in May 2016 and became deputy chairman in September 2023, according to Nine’s corporate website.
