WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals will hear a series of industry legal challenges aimed at blocking the Biden administration’s restoration of historic net neutrality rules set to take effect July 22, according to a ruling on Thursday.
In April, the Federal Communications Commission voted along party lines to resume regulatory oversight of broadband internet and restore open internet rules adopted in 2015 that were rolled back under former President Donald Trump, with challenges filed in seven district courts. FCC Chairwoman Jessica Rosenworcel expressed confidence. “I have full confidence in what this agency has developed regarding net neutrality, and I believe our work will be upheld by the courts,” she said Thursday.
